How is the tapered roller bearing installed?

A tapered roller bearing is a radial thrust type rolling bearing in which the rolling elements are tapered rollers. There are two kinds of small cone angle and large cone angle. The small cone angle mainly bears the radial and axial combined loads mainly based on radial load. It is often used in double and reverse installation. The inner and outer races can be installed separately. The radial and axial clearance can be adjusted during installation and use. The large cone angle is mainly subjected to axial and radial combined loads mainly based on axial loads. Generally, it is not used alone to withstand pure axial loads. When paired configuration (relatively installed at the same name), it can be used to withstand pure radial loads. How do they generally install tapered roller bearings on a daily basis, and what are their installation methods?

1. How to install tapered roller bearings :

Bearing installation must be installed in a dry and clean environment. Prior to installation, tapered roller bearings must be inspected for the mating surfaces of the shaft and housing, the end faces of the shoulders, the grooves and the connecting surfaces. All mating surfaces must be carefully cleaned and burrs removed. The unfinished surface of the casting must remove residual sand.

Before installing the bearings, use lubricating oil or kerosene for related cleaning, use after the bearings are dry, and ensure good lubrication. The bearings are usually grease or some lubricant. When using grease, use high quality grease such as no impurities, oxidation, rust and extreme pressure. Grease filling is 30%-60% of the bearing and housing volume, and should not be excessive. Double row tapered roller bearings and pump shaft bearings with sealed structure are filled with grease and can be used directly by the user and cannot be cleaned.

When the bearing is mounted, an equal pressure must be applied to the circumference of the end face of the ferrule to press the ferrule. Do not hit the bearing end directly with a tool such as a hammer to avoid damaging the bearing. In the case of small interference, the end face of the bearing ring can be pressed with a sleeve at normal temperature, the sleeve is struck with a hammer, and the collar is evenly pressed through the sleeve. If installed in large quantities, a hydraulic press can be used. When pressing in, ensure that the end face of the outer ring and the shoulder end face of the outer casing, the end faces of the inner ring and the end faces of the shoulder are pressed, and no gap is allowed.

When the interference is large, it can be installed by oil bath heating or inductor heating bearing method. The heating temperature ranges from 80 °C to 100 °C, and the maximum temperature cannot exceed 120 °C. At the same time, the bearing is tightened using a nut or other suitable means to prevent the bearing from shrinking in the width direction after cooling and creating a gap between the ferrule and the shoulder.

The installation of single row tapered roller bearings should be adjusted at the end. The clearance value should be determined according to the different working conditions and the amount of interference. If necessary, it should be determined experimentally. Double row tapered roller bearings and pump shaft bearings have been adjusted for clearance at the factory and do not need to be adjusted during installation.

After the bearing is installed, the rotation test should be carried out. Firstly, the shaft or the bearing box should be rotated by hand. If there is no abnormality, the power will be run without load and at low speed. Then, according to the running condition, the rotation speed and load will be gradually increased, and the noise, vibration and temperature rise will be detected. If an abnormality is found, it should be stopped and checked. It can be delivered after the operation test is normal.

2. Bearing disassembly:

After removing the bearing, use a suitable removal tool. In order to disassemble the inner ring of the interference fit, only the pulling force can be applied to the ring, and the dismounting force is never allowed to pass through the rolling element (outer ring), otherwise the rolling bodies and raceways will be crushed.

3.Bearing environment:

According to the location of use, the conditions of use and environmental conditions, the choice of size, accuracy, and the appropriate bearing is the prerequisite for bearing life and reliability.

Application: Tapered roller bearings are suitable for bearing radial and axial combined loads with radial loads. They are usually paired with two sets of bearings, mainly used in front and rear hubs, active bevel gears, differentials, Transmission parts such as reducer.

Permissible speed: Allows 0.3-0.5 times the limit speed of the bearing in a properly installed and lubricated environment. Under normal circumstances, it is best to use 0.2 times the limit speed.

Allowable tilt angle: Tapered roller bearings generally do not allow the shaft to be tilted relative to the housing bore. If tilted, the maximum does not exceed 2 degrees.

Allowable temperature: Under normal conditions, the lubricant has high temperature resistance and sufficient lubrication, the general bearing is allowed to work in the ambient temperature of -30 °C---150 °C.

4. Installation of tapered roller bearings

Method for installing thrust tapered roller bearing

Thrust cylindrical roller bearings and thrust needle roller bearings are suitable for low speed applications. Thrust tapered roller bearings Speed flat thrust bearings are mainly subjected to axial loads in the assembly and are widely used. Although the thrust bearing is installed and operated.

How is the gear and tapered roller bearing assembled?

When the gear is designed, there must be an axial positioning step, the outer ring of the bearing is dead, and the outer ring of the inner ring is locked with a lock nut, and the locking pre-tightening force is set according to the application condition.

How to install and adjust the clearance of tapered roller bearings?

Tapered roller bearings are generally used, face to face and back to back. The clearance size should be determined according to the size of the bearing you choose and the transmission accuracy required by the mechanism. As for the adjustment method, it can be achieved by pressing back.
